Kawahara Shihan, 8th dan

Kawahara Shihan is the Technical Director of the Canadian Aikido Federation and the British Columbia Aikido Federation. He has been designated by the Hombu Dojo in Japan as their official representative to Canada.

Ishu Ishiyama Sensei, 6th dan

Ishiyama Sensei is the chief instructor of Vancouver West Aikikai.

Liz McKinlay, 4th Dan
Liz has been practising Aikido with Ishiyama Sensei since 1979. She practised Judo for 6 years before that.
   
Frank Polak, 4th Dan (currently away from Vancouver)
Frank Polak has studied Aikido under Yoshioka Sensei (Hawaii), Kawahara Sensei (Vancouver), and Ishiyama Sensei (Vancouver). With more than 20 years in the martial arts, Frank brings a vast experience to his teaching in the dojo.
   
Sharon Bader, 3rd Dan
Sharon Bader uses her over 12 years of Aikido experience in her daily life to help her stay focused and relaxed while moving smoothly with strength and stability. She is an instructional assistant for the regular adult class.
   
Dave Bursey, 3rd Dan
Dave started his Aikido training in 1991 with Ishiyama Sensei and has since attained the ran of 3rd Dan. Dave began his martial arts training in the 70s.
   
Natan Cheifetz, 3rd Dan
Natan Cheifetz has been involved in martial arts for more than 20 years. He has taught Karate, Iaido (Japanese swordmanship) and self defense. He also holds a 5th degree blackbelt in Iaido. Natan has been studying under Ishiyama Sensei since 1998. He currently runs the Children's Aikido Program and he is an instructional assistant for the regular adult class.
   
Bob Wolber , 2nd Dan
Bob Wolber has studied martial arts in several disciplines since 1972. He began Aikido practice with Ishiyama Sensei in 1993 and earned his 1st dan ranking 7 years later.
   
Randy Lam, 1st Dan
Randy started Aikido in 1993 at San Shu Kan Aikikai. He then moved to Vancouver in 1999 and studied Aikido at UBC for two years. Randy joined Vancouver West Aikikai in 2001.
   
Anna Stukas, 1st Dan
Anna is an instructional assistant at Vancouver West Aikikai.
