Liz McKinlay, 4th Dan

Liz McKinlay has been practicing Aikido since 1979. She practiced Judo for 6 years before that, attaining the rank of 2nd kyu.

Frank Polak, 4th Dan (currently away from Vancouver)

Frank Polak has studied Aikido under Yoshioka Sensei (Hawaii), Kawahara Sensei (Vancouver), and Ishiyama Sensei (Vancouver). With more than 20 years in the martial arts, Frank brings a vast experience to his teaching in the dojo.

Kim Riddick, 3rd Dan

Kim Riddick began his Aikido training 20 years ago under Macphail Sensei in Victoria . He has practiced under Paris Sensei for 10 years and was the chief instructor of the SFU Aikikai for 5 years. Kim started training with Ishiyama Sensei since January , 2003.

Sharon Bader, 2nd Dan

Sharon Bader uses her over 12 years of Aikido experience in her daily life to help her stay focused and relaxed while moving smoothly with strength and stability.

Dave Bursey, 2nd Dan

Dave Bursey has been training in Aikido with Ishiyama Sensei since 1991. David began his martial arts training in the 70s.

Bob Wolber , 2nd Dan

Bob Wolber has studied martial arts in several disciplines since 1972. He began Aikido practice with Ishiyama Sensei at age 34 in 1993 and earned his 1st dan ranking 7 years later.

Natan Cheifetz, 2nd Dan

Natan Cheifetz has been involved in martial arts for more than 20 years. He has taught Karate, Iaido (Japanese swordmanship)and self defense. Natan has been studying under Ishiyama Sensei since 1998.

Glenn Fang, 2nd Dan

Glenn Fang, 2nd Dan, started his Aikido training in 1995 in Aruba and moved to The Netherlands in 1998. Here, as a member of the Judo Bond Nederland, he studied Aikido under Nobuyoshi Tamura Shihan and Seiichi Sugano Shihan.

In 2002 he received certification from the Judo Bond Nederland as Aikido Instructor and has been teaching since then.

In 2006 Glenn Fang immigrated to Canada and practices regularly at Vancouver West Aikikai.

Anna Stukas, 1st Dan

Randy Lam, 1st Dan

Randy started Aikido in 1993 at San Shu Kan Aikikai. He then moved to Vancouver in 1999 and studied Aikido at UBC for two years. In 2001, Randy joined Vancouver West Aikikai and is currently teaching the Sunday classes.
