Reverend Jiho Kongo (a Rinzai Zen priest and an international
Zen teacher) from Syogangi Temple in Oita Prefecture, Japan,
runs an international Zen retreat (training centre) at his
temple, where students learn to do zen meditation, farming,
organic and natural cooking, and other things in a huge
temple compound near the ocean. Kongo Sensei gave a talk on
Zen Buddhism. He is an old friend of Ishiyama Sensei since
1979 and Kawahara Sensei since the early 1980s. He used to
come to B.C. Aikido summer camps and teach Zen. Kongo Sensei
lived in Victoria for two years teaching Zen. His Zen retreat
website is: http://www.zenretreat.com.
